Stay tuned for a new crossover design and install. Bass was a bit more controlled and sounded less flabby, probably thanks to new gasket material and a better sealed box. Overall, I could listen to it much longer. There is a certain sweetness to it, though it's still about 5-6DB hot. The face-hurting horn issues are much better now. On my listening test with the treated cabinet, I can tell you that the vocals improved significantly. Obviously measurements are of the good speaker, not the one I busted.

I'll be planning a replacement PR's on the KG's anyhow since they seemed a bit under sized and bottom out at high volumes running full range. I was so pissed because I never had to take it apart again.

I put my screw driver right through the PR of one of my speakers. When putting it back together, disaster struck. I glued the seams of the cabinet, re-sealed the horn and drivers with new gaskets, lined the walls with rock-wool insulation, and put some kill-a-matt on the horn. Quite the smooth difference with an identical measurement setup. Green is before, and blue is with a treated cabinet. I had to take them down and figure out what the problem was. I was getting a front-of-the-face headache. The speakers are large and did put out a 'big sound', but they're not pleasurable to listen too for anything more than a few minutes.
I picked up some used Klipsch KG 4.2'sĪnd after my initial listening impressions, I knew the horn was running hot, and it was kind of honking megaphone noise from the horn that made dialog virtually impossible to understand.
